The new third-person, choice-driven adventure game tells an original story set in the year 2380, in the era shortly after the events of Star Trek: The Next Generation feature films. On PC, it will be exclusive to the Epic Games Store. It’s officially May, and with that, we see the launch of the interactive narrative video game Star Trek: Resurgence from developer Dramatic Labs later this month.

Outside of Bridge Crew, there haven’t been many great Star Trek games since the early 2000s when titles like Bridge Commander and Elite Force did the universe justice. Unlike Telltale games and the Star Trek TV shows, Star Trek: Resurgence will arrive in one complete package and tell one long-form story. Some Telltale games had a tendency to force players towards specific conclusions and make choices feel superficial, and I'm hoping Resurgence avoids that. But as a mere 15-minute demo focusing on multiple characters, I didn't get deep enough into the story to judge how pivotal your choices will actually be. Star Trek: Resurgence is a narrative adventure game in which you'll be able to freely explore sections of both your ship and, yes, strange new worlds, making dialogue choices along the way as one.
